Lucy Wood

Instructor Bio

Lucy joined the team at the start of 2021 as My Expedition Rocks first apprentice. With a background in Biology having graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2014, Lucy has a real passion for wildlife and nature. She believes the best thing about the environment is that there is always more to learn and can often be found watching wildlife documentaries (self-declared as David Attenborough’s biggest fan) or listening to podcasts.

She spent the past year and half working in Malaysia as an outdoor group leader for a conservation organisation. Here she delivered programmes to educate school children and corporate groups about the environment. This ranged from trekking and camping in the rainforest, to kayaking and snorkelling to study sea turtle populations. When not on the job, it was straight down to the beach for extra snorkelling or scuba diving.

As you might have guessed, Lucy is a keen traveller and loves to find adventure on her journeys, be that sky diving and bungee jumping in New Zealand, or searching for elusive rare species on night hikes in Komodo. However, she is very much a Yorkshire girl at heart and can think of no better place to spend her weekends than out walking in the Dales. She can also tell you immediately if it’s not Yorkshire tea.
