First Aid at Work

This HSE-recognised First Aid at Work training course provides a comprehensive set of practical skills required by first aiders in the majority of workplaces over a 3-day period (minimum of 18 hrs).

It’s designed for individuals who want to gain first aid knowledge and skills whilst developing confidence and competence in the work place. It is most suited to those working in high-risk environments and meets the standards required to comply with Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations.

Syllabus

  • Adult resuscitation (CPR)
  • Allergic reaction
  • Asthma
  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Chest pains
  • Choking adult
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Eye injuries
  • Fainting
  • Head injuries
  • Defibrillator prompts and how to respond (theory based)
  • Defibrillator pad placement (theory based)
  • Low blood sugar
  • Managing an emergency
  • Minor and severe bleeding
  • Poisons and what to do if someone has been poisoned
  • Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Spinal injuries
  • Stroke
  • Unresponsive adult

Certification

Assessment will be undertaken through continuous observation by the trainer, John Rocks, and written assessments. On completion of the course, successful participants will receive an accredited qualification which is valid for three years and enabling the candidate to be a Level 3 First Aider in the Work Place.
