Pen-y-ghent is a classic, and a popular favourite for many as one of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. This makes it the perfect spot for adventuring, as there is lots more to explore than just the traditional route up and down.
Our adventure day will begin from Horton-in-Ribblesdale, where we’ll head up to the summit via the classic route, including a scramble. From here we’ll drop below to Pen-y-ghent crag for some climbing. These routes offer incredible views but are not for the faint hearted as the climbing involved is very exposed. A good head for heights or previous experience climbing is therefore highly advised.
If we have time we’ll be descending via Hull Pot; a stunning collapsed cavern. Here we’ll abseil down in to the hole and climb out. At the end of the day feel free to join us in the pub for refreshments and relax after a busy day’s activity.
Previous experience required:
Suitable for ages 12+, with an accompanying adult. This event is tough going with a walk up one of Yorkshire’s 3 Peaks and climbing with exposure. The day will require carrying of equipment and the ability to cope well in exposed terrain. This is a particularly good trip for those who are indoor climbers, new to outdoor climbing or those who have done some climbing outside and fancy a bigger adventure.
