SUP Adventure Day

A Unique Lancashire journey on the canal

SUP Adventure Day

This unique trip will not only be an adventure along a long quiet section of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, but it will also be one of few trips that have navigated the length of the Foulridge Canal, also known as the Mile Tunnel. The trip is an amazing opportunity to not only experience the unique nature of one the UK’s longest canal tunnels, but also have the experience of being one of a few people to have completed it on a Standup Paddleboard (SUP).

Itinerary
Starting at 10:00am near Colne we start out with a gentle introduction on the canal as we begin to make our way towards the tunnel. There will be a couple of portages (transporting our SUPs on land) to make with our SUPs due to a couple of locks, but eventually we get to the start of the main event, the TUNNEL!!

Making our way through the tunnel by torch light, we will work together to make our way through all 1630 yards, that’s almost a mile. This iconic tunnel that is now well over 200 years old, 226 years to be precise, took 5 years to build and has seen countless journeys from industry to continuous cruisers to leisure and tourist activities. At the other side there is the option to book yourself in at the wonderful The Wharf at Foulridge (advance booking is recommended), or have a packed lunch by the canal.

We will then enjoy the wonderful countryside from here to Greenberfield, our end destination fine tuning our SUP skills and getting the most out of the afternoon with your leader Jon.

We will wrap the day up at 16:00 at Greenberfield car park, where we will conduct our shuttles and return journey back to Colne to retrieve vehicles and head home after a splendid journey.

A support vehicle will be available throughout and will meet at The Wharf in Foulridge and Greenberfield (Barnoldswick).
