Instructor Bio

Amanda is a trained primary school teacher who has managed to escape the classroom! After 8 years working in schools as a teacher and Early Years Manager, she found that some children simply learn best when outdoors and able to run around. This developed a passion for getting children outdoors and learning in a practical, hands-on way.

This passion is something she explores with her own three children, who love nothing more than being outdoors, hiking, foraging, lighting fires and, of course, toasting marshmallows! She believes sharing outdoor experiences is an amazing bonding experience for families and is always keen to find ways to facilitate this for others too.

Having researched different educational theories, Amanda ended up home educating her children for several years to allow them the freedom to learn subjects outside the National Curriculum and follow their interests. She has been key in helping to develop our Early Years and Home Educator programmes.

In her free time Amanda enjoys walking and hiking with her dog Beans, climbing, camping and generally exploring new places.
